Minecraft – Animals

Today i found the coolest Minecraft ever challenge.   I had been so excited to share this with you.   the monthly challenge I found involved learning animal facts and being the animal to  complete mini challenges.   it did take me a while to complete some of the challenges as they were really hard like the leopard jumping on the impala.  Once you completed the task you are able to switch and be the other animal.   I have added my screenshots into a slideshow to show you part of the challenge.  I hope you enjoy it.  If you love animals you should try it out the BBC clips that it takes you to to give you facts on the animals come from the BBC TV series that I watch a lot.

Fun Art – AM

Today summer learning task was to create create characters using nature and then to use Google draw to create the background and insert the animals onto using the google draw tools to complete the characters,  I decided to keep with my sea theme and make a crab a puffer a fish and a turtle to insert onto the Google draw.  I hope you like my finished picture.  I really like doing these kind of art things as it brings nature to live in a different way.  I also used my brother’s turtle rock that he made for the garden.

Sundial – Step it Up

I made my own sundial by using a paper plate, blue tack and a lolly stick from the ice block I had just eaten.   I had to wait till the next day to place it in the sun as it was not sunny the day I made it.  I placed it in the sun at 9am and marked it every hour until 3pm.  It was not easy as it turned out to be a cloudy day.  This is my completed sun dial with the marks on every hour.  I am going to make one out of metal with my Dad that I can leave outside in the garden as I think they are really cool.

Hybrid Sport – Step it Up

For today’s Hybrid Step It Up activity I was to create a game by putting two sports together I decided to make a game from table tennis and football/ soccer.   I decided to use table tennis to give me more practice with  coordination for when I go back to table tennis classes and football because it has goals that are very handy to use and it is a sport I would like to start playing.  I also wanted to keep it linked to my Kick Start sports but since it was raining outside I had to think of something I could do inside.

My Sport name is: Ping Pong Goal

This is a video of me playing my game with my mum.  I have put a list of the rules and changes I would make after the video.

You need to set the game out as you can see in the video I had to use blocks behind the goal to stop the ball from going out.   It is a two or 4 player game the aim of the game is to hit the ball to the other person’s goal and the other person has to try and stop the ball from going in the goal.   You can only hit the ball when it is on your half of the table and only hit it once on your side.  If the ball is on the other side of the table you must have the bat off the table.  I also forgot when playing with my mum that you are not meant to put the bat inside the square in front of the goal.

Changes I would make:
– Bigger goal
– Blocks around the full table
– To make the game a bit harder you could also add a wall or net in the middle
– I also thought you could add blocks as obstacles to make it look like there were players on the field too

Laser Maze – Step it up

Here is my laser maze activity. I used streamers for the lasers as they are delicate so if you touch them too much they would snap. Here is me trying it out and trying to get to the other end.  It was not easy as it was very windy and I had to modify it a bit from the picture on the Kick Start.

Connecting with your Whenua – Step It Up

The Connecting with your Whenua Step it up activity was to while on your walk take loads of pictures of things you see.  This is my slide show of my walk to Rainbow Falls (please make sure you read my Connecting with your Whenua – kick start to see why this place is special to me)

Hybrid Sport – Kick Start

Today’s activity was ‘hybrid sport’ for the Kick start we had to come up with an activity where we could do a PE lesson combining two sports or more.

I chose to combine tennis and football (soccer).

To do this activity you need tennis rackets, a tennis ball and two 1/2 size football goals.   You would split into 2 teams and everyone would have a tennis racket other than the goalie for each team.   The aim of the game is to pass the ball using the rackets to your teammates without the other team knocking the ball away,  if they knock the ball away the ball goes to their team, to score you must hit the ball  into the goal without the goalkeeper stopping it with their hands.  You are allowed to move with the ball but you must bounce it on your racket the whole time.   There must be 3 passes made before you can try score, you can also do rebound balls as long as the ball does not hit the ground or it would be the goalkeeper’s ball.
